THE FALL HOLIDAYS

TRUMPETS  –  DAY OF ATONEMENT  – TABERNACLES

THE FALL FESTIVALS

The Fall Holidays are celebrations that anticipate what Jesus will do when he returns to the earth as a King-Healer in the future.

TRUMPETS – The Feast of Trumpets, or Yom Teruah is a holiday that anticipates Jesus’ second-coming and enthronement as our King. The day is marked by blowing a special trumpet, called a shofar or a ram’s horn.

THE DAY OF ATONEMENT – This holiday anticipates when Jesus is our judge and cleanses the world from sin and death. This is a solemn holiday of mourning, fasting and repentance.

TABERNACLES – An eight day celebration, Tabernacles looks forward to the time when all will be restored and we will be in eternity with Jesus. On this holiday, temporary dwellings are made and we remember that this world is not our home.

PREPARING FOR THE FESTIVALS

PREPARE MONEY – Set aside a little bit of money in preparation for the holiday so you can host friends, enjoy good food and celebrate!

EMBLEM FOR TRUMPETS – Find an emblem of repentance for the celebration of Trumpets.  Choose an object that represents what you believe God wants you to turn from, say a clock for your time, or food, or a symbolic item.

FAST FOR DAY OF ATONEMENT – On the Day of Atonement, we fast in repentance and anticipate God’s forgiveness at the seat of judgement. Fasting helps you to enter into what the Lord has for you on this day.

BUILD A SUKKAH – Finally, prepare to build a Sukkah for Tabernacles. We build tents as a reminder of the people of Israel who lived in tents in the desert. For a week, we celebrate, live in and even sleep in our sukkahs.
