WHAT WE BELIEVE

Every religion (and non-religion, like atheism) believes something about deity, about humans, and about their relationship to one another. Every person has core beliefs.

While the expression might differ from church to church, Christianity has a core set of beliefs. These beliefs distinguish it from all other religions. The statements below capture these essential beliefs, which are revealed in the Hebrew/Christian Bible. This is what we believe.

GOD’S WORD

Our beliefs proclaim that the sixty-six books of the Jewish-Christian Bible were spoken directly by God to men. These men wrote them down exactly as God intended. We believe the Bible is inspired, absolutely true, authoritative, completely sufficient, and without errors.

GOD

There is only one true God who eternally exists in three distinct persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

JESUS

Jesus the Messiah is the eternal Son of God, was born of a virgin, and is both fully God and fully human. He died as the sacrificial substitute to pay the penalty for sin. He physically rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. One day he will physically return.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is a person and is fully God. The Holy Spirit works in the world to rescue humans from sin and death.

THE FALL AND SALVATION

All humans are sinful by both nature and action. The consequence of sin is physical and spiritual death. Only through faith in the person and work of Jesus and repentance from sin can one be reconciled to God. Only in this way are we forgiven of sin, and receive abundant, eternal life.

BAPTISM, THE SPIRIT, AND A CHANGED LIFE

Those who trust in Jesus are to be baptized in water, filled with the Holy Spirit, and live in ways that conform to God’s instruction as found in His Word.

GOD’S PEOPLE

All who trust Jesus is the Messiah become part of God’s family in their generation and are to live out their faith in the context of a local church.

RESURRECTION AND JUDGEMENT

Jesus will physically return to the earth to restore all things to the Father and judge those who are alive and dead. He will resurrect the dead and give eternal life to those who trust in Him. Those who do not trust in Him will experience eternal judgment.
